NOTICE: If you are making special arrangements to visit us at Watersong Farms or at a Farmers Market that we may be attending, please always contact us either by phone or email to make sure that either the product you are looking for is available, that we are open, or that we are in fact at the market.

where it all began

Our FarmIn 1959, Leslie’s parents, Chris and Helen (Rodway) Riddell purchased the farm we are on today. As newlyweds, they not only moved into the original farm house (built in the 1890’s) they began mixed farming.

From this, poultry production with farm-gate sales was developed over the years with a growing list of customers from all walks of life.

Raising cattle, growing wheat and having a family on top of the poultry business, made for a dynamic farm and family life.

In 2003, Rudy and Leslie bought the farm and continue farm-gate poultry sales. In 2008, the implement shed was retrofitted to house the indoor recirculating system for raising steelhead trout. With capacity for 140 metric tonnes of fish, the anticipated outcome is to have a freshwater aquaculture operation that will catalyze the development of a sustainable freshwater aquaculture industry in Canada.

2015 brought the addition of the Butcher Shop and Smokehouse to the farm, and full production of various poultry and trout items became available to the already committed and growing list of customers shopping farm gate and farmers markets locales. Products are forever changing at the whim of our creative butcher, as he looks to develop a full range of deli and barbeque items on top of being able to supply specialty meats from the farm store to the customer.

Always looking for diversification and a chance to feature our own products, we have added a licensed Banquet Kitchen (seats 40 inside) for a variety of events either created by us and select chefs, or to accommodate clients own ideas for their specific celebration.

Our Chef and Farmer events have seen 125 foodies, Manitoba chefs, onsite Farmers Market, local breweries, music and fundraising at the same time!

Also featured on the farm is our Chefs Table, designed for 8 diners only, up close and personal dining featuring up to nine courses (wear your stretchy pants) of local ingredients, complimentary beverages and an evening to enjoy with your favourite people or with new friends.

Diversification and Commitment

From Chris Country Chicken to Riddell’s Roasters to Watersong Farms, the home farm continues to change and grow by responsible diversification and commitment to sustainable and environmental farm management practices.

With an eye on the future, our focus is on innovation, support of a vibrant community, and socially responsible food production.

Slip out to the farm, it's good for you.
